THE HUNTER LOUNGe bar

The Hunter Lounge has been a popular bar and pizza spot since 2011, providing a unique environment for students and staff at Victoria University's Kelburn campus.

Open Monday to Friday from 12 pm during trimester times. We offer a great alternative space for studying, meetings, or simply taking a break. In the afternoons, we regularly host quizzes and events for various clubs, societies, teams, and departments.

Both staff and students (postgrad and undergrad) enjoy our excellent drink prices, our 4 pool tables, table tennis, darts, and board games, along with an eclectic music selection and our famous 2-for-1 pizzas every Friday afternoon.

Hunter Lounge bar FAQ’s

  • Mondays and Tuesdays, and at 7 PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

    Outside of Trimester hours, we are open from 2 PM to 7 PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

  • Yes, our license allows under 18 year olds to come in.

  • We are located in the Student Union Building (SUB)  Level 3. The best entry is Level 4 of the SUB beside VUWSAs office.

  • We serve Pizza, Burgers, Hot Sandwiches and Fries. You can find our current Menu here.

  • Yes, we take bookings for tables and sections of the room. Please fill in the form on this page or Call us on 04 470 7676.

  • We are not set up with any online delivery services but you can pre-order by call/text to Jack on 021 938 376. The order will be confirmed by a text.

  • For student groups, events that occur when we are already open can come at no cost. We always try to keep events low of no cost to student groups. Please see the Quiz and Party section in this website for ways to book in.

  • Like the rest of the university, parking is very hard to find while the classes are operating. After 6pm and on weekends there are a lot of free parks inside gate 1 and gate 7 of the university. There is also parking on Kelburn Parade, Salamanca Road and Waiteata Road.
